NON-INDUSTRIAL DISABILITY (NDI)
The Non-Industrial Disability Insurance (NDI) program provides a monthly benefit payment to employees who are unable to work due to a non-work related injury or illness. Any illness leave over three working days should be reported to the Benefits Office.
Eligibility
All sick leave credits must be exhausted and the employees must serve a 7-day waiting period (unless hospitalized) prior to the payment of NDI benefits. The use of vacation credits is optional and may be used to extend normal salary during the period of disability. Eligibility for NDI benefits is based on PERS membership, time base and length of appointment.
Attendance Reporting
Report sick leave usage on Form 672 until exhausted or employee returns. If sick leave has been exhausted and the employee has not yet returned, contact your Payroll Technician and discuss how to proceed at that time.
If employee is put on NDI, your technician will let you know each month how much leave to use(if any). Do not report this usage on the Time and Attendance Report (Form 672)
INDUSTRIAL LEAVE (IDL)
Workers Compensation benefits for on the job injuries.
Eligibility
All employees are eligible for IDL.
Attendance Reporting
Notify the Benefits and Payroll departments as soon as you are aware an employee has been injured on the job. This employee needs to be put on IDL status right away.

There is a three-day waiting period in which the employee may use leave credits for pay. If the injury results in hospitalization or leave extends over 14 days, the waiting period is waived. The employee receives up to 22 days of full IDL. If the leave extends over 22 days pay of 2/3 IDL, adjusted gross begins on the 23rd day. At this time, the employee (through the Benefits Office) has the option of supplementing his IDL payments with sick leave. Your Payroll Technician will contact you with the usage amount. IDL is not to be reported on the Form 672. Employees on IDL do accrue sick leave and vacation and may only supplement with the amount of sick leave available to them on the first day of their IDL leave.
CATASTROPHIC LEAVE
Catastrophic leave (CAT Leave) is a benefit that is approved by the Benefits Department. Any questions regarding CAT leave should be direct to Benefits.
